Actor Portfolio (black binder)

The Actor Portfolio is there to help you be a better artist!

The Learning Goal: Each student will understand completion, the value of preparation, the importance of readiness, the strength in confidence, and the power that comes from keeping good archives of your current work as an artist.


The Assignment: Each student is to build a 1st and 2nd semester actor portfolio in a black binder.

It is to contain the following:

Artist Info

Actor headshots (commercial, stage, and (editorial for modeling if needed)
Actor resume (complete work and experience history)
Actor's statement (who you are as an artist - 1 page typed)
Actor Bio (for programs of show you appear in)
Table of Contents (for the portfolio with tabs)

Monolgue Resources -
5 Monologue cuttings 

Reading the play and typing 1 page summary of the play  
(in your own words...NOT WIKIPEDIA or from ANY other person)

A Character analysis sheet 
(completed with extreme creativity)

2 copies of a typed version for each selection 
(with triple spacing after each punctuation.)

One Script is to be Scored 
(All beats, blocking and notations marked on one copy of the script)

Memorized  
(ALL monologues will be COMPLETELY memorized for coaching)

2 Coaching sessions 
(a minimum of 1 coaching on each piece is required by a drama teacher AND by one or more peers)

Performance in front of the class 
(recorded)

Self Reflection and Personal Growth Goal Paper 
(1 page typed reflection on what worked and what didn't after viewing the video of the performance)

Avant Garde Projects
3 pieces devised per semester 


The student(s) will always receive an "Inspirational Springboard" from the teachers:
Each devised work will include:

Freewriting/Mindmapping -
(Brainstorming) a new idea on paper

Final script -
The scene/a map/choreography-description of the action/staging and any lines.

Rehearsal (and proof of rehearsal)  
Video/journaling/audio etc

Performance of the piece or "Happening" 
(recorded)

Reflection and Personal Growth Goal Paper 
(1 page typed reflection on what worked and what didn't after viewing the video of the performance)

Lyrical Performance
2 pieces devised 2nd semester only 


This includes for each monologue selection:

Reading the play/musical (listening as well) and typing 1 page summary of the play 
(in your own words...NOT WIKIPEDIA or from ANY other person)

A Character analysis sheet 
(completed with extreme creativity)

2 copies of a typed version for each selection (and 2 copies of sheet music printed) 
(with triple spacing after each punctuation.)

One Script and one copy of the music is to be Scored 
(All beats, blocking and notations marked on one copy of the script)

Memorized 
(ALL monologues will be COMPLETELY memorized for coaching)

Coaching
(ALL Lyrical pieces are to be coached and will be sung with rehearsal track during coaching)

Performance in front of the class 
(recorded)

Self Reflection and Personal Growth Goal Paper 
(1 page typed reflection on what worked and what didn't after viewing the video of the performance)

ALL Selections must come from the current WG Drama Library and must be approved by a teacher as acceptable for your portfolio.

ALL Scripts are to be checked out and RETURNED!!!
If not returned, the student will be required to do "theater" community service to pay back the value of the book that went missing!

ALL Advanced Drama Students are required to audition for BOTH main stage productions on campus.
