Super Objective

When performing in a whole play...

FIND THE SUPER OBJECTIVE
In making your choice for the super-objective, you will look in three places.

#1.) Consider the play as a whole.
#2.) Then each scene your character is in...or talked about.
#3.) Finally, the smaller moments within each scene (the beats).

In each scene, a character will try
to attain smaller objectives
in order to attain his/her super objective.

STANISLAVSKI SPEAKS ABOUT...

The SPINE of the Play -  the plot's (climb) to the central idea or theme of the story (objective, conflict, resolution for each beat)

The smaller objectives and conflicts of each beat add/build up to the main action and super objective of the whole play.

If you understand the SPINE of the play as an actor,
your character's objectives and super objective will be clear!
